New Delhi: Former Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) on Saturday announced his retirement from international cricket. The 39-year-old wicket-keeper batsman played his last international match for India on 10 July against New Zealand in the semi-finals of the World Cup 2019 in Manchester. Dhoni, captain of the World Cup-winning team, had scored 50 runs in that match. However, Dhoni (MS Dhoni) played 350 matches in his illustrious ODI career and 10,773 at an average of 87.56. In international T20 cricket, he played 98 matches and scored 1,617 runs at a tremendous strike rate of 126.13. Dhoni retired from the longest format of cricket i.e. Test cricket in December 2014 itself. He scored 4876 runs in 90 Tests which included 6 centuries and his highest score was 224 runs. Born in Ranchi, Dhoni led Team India from 2007 to 2016, after which Virat Kohli was named captain in all three formats of the game.
